About Us

Greg Mulholland, Head Coach: Greg is a native of Sarasota and graduated from Riverview High School in 1997. Greg played college baseball at Mars Hill University before spending 13 years as the varsity coach at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School. Before resigning in 2021, Greg posted a 226-98 mark, the highest winning percentage (.700) in Cougars’ history, while winning five District Titles and 12 trips to Regionals. In 2023, after completing one year as an assistant coach on the Sailors' staff, Greg was appointed as Head Coach of the Sarasota Sailors.​​​

Clyde Metcalf, Head Coach: Clyde coached 41 years at Sarasota High and 47 years of high school baseball. With the Sailors, he won 950 games which is second all-time among state coaches, and won two national championships in 1989 and 1994. Clyde also coached teams to seven state championships (1957, 1971, 1973, 1987, 1993, 1996 and 2007), won 14 District Titles and three Regionals. Clyde was inducted into the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2019. Also, Clyde coached 95 players who were subsequently drafted into professional MLB baseball (this is the most of any high school in the United States) with 15 formers players becoming MLB players.​​
